Hexaget : Motorola to release updated Skip as keychain fob

Remember the Motorola Skip accessory that was released last year around
the same time as the Moto X? It was a little accessory that allowed you to unlock your phone with ease. You would attach it to your belt and Motorola also offered Dots (stickers) to place in different parts of your house. It wasn’t a bad accessory, but it was limited in that it was only NFC and you had to place the phone right next to the Skip for it to work. As with all technology, Motorola is looking to improve Skip, and FCC documents just outed it.
The first big change with this new version of Skip is that it’s Bluetooth making it more powerful. It’s also a keychain fob so it can be used for a couple of different uses. The first and most important feature is that you will be able to set Skip as a trusted Bluetooth device so that as long as your keys are in your pocket (or nearby), your security lock screen on your phone will be bypassed. No need to place your phone near the fob in order to unlock it. It will happen automatically. In the event you leave your phone behind or someone steals it, the lock screen will go back into effect since it would no longer be “connected” to Skip.
The other thing you can do is use Skip to find your phone. By pressing a button on the fob, your phone will ring, assuming it’s in range. You can even use your phone to find your keys. Just open the app and the fob will emit a tone, again assuming it’s in range of your phone.
One other cool thing is that Skip will run on a  CR2032 battery, which will have a life expectancy of about 1 year. Plus, you will be able to replace it when it does go bad for only a few bucks.
The original Skip only worked with the Moto X, but it looks like this new version will be compatible with any Android phone with version 4.3 or higher. You will just need to download and install an app from the Google Play store.
We can only assume that Motorola will introduce Skip on September 4, but we really don’t know for sure.
What do you guys think? I am generally not an accessory guy, but this one seems like a winner. The only thing left to find out is the cost.
